How do you open the hood of a 1993 chevy S10 with a broken bruiser latch cable?

The hood latch cable broke under the hood of my 1993 chevy S10. I constant to grab the cable through the grill and pull it but it is broken at the latch. I tried to wedge screwdrivers in where I can see the latch through the pump but no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions. Luckily I just topped off the oil and have a new battery.
