What hotel in the Dominican Republic is walking distance from a township and not too far from an airport?
I am not too interested in staying in an all-inclusive hotel, I would rather be able to stay in an affordable, nice hotel but still be able to experience the taste and people. Any help is appreciated. Also, is there any advantage to using a travel agency? I would much rather do it myself but I am just worried about legit delivery to and from the hotel and to neighboring towns.
Check out the Hotel Paraiso de Colon ( http://www.resideo.com/do/puertoplata/95884890.hotel ) - they have their own caf and bar, and it's a 10 minute walk to beaches and downtown Sosua.
"This family-owned hotel offers a no-frills, low- damage option to more expensive beachfront hotels in the area. "
Hope that helps -- if not, there are lots of other hotels on that same perch. Good luck!
Richard said that it was 5 minutes from the Puerto Plata Airport to Sosua but it is about 8 briefly to the tourist area where you will want to stay! The Puerto Plata airport is actually IN Sosua but still a cab ride to where you want to go and it is 20 or 25 US dollars for the cab ride!
When you book see if the hotel has an alternative way for you to get to the hotel!
If you are a single girl I would imply Cabarete instead of Sosua although I live in Sosua! Sosua is known as a MANS paradise and although there are many women travelers here I envisage Cabarete would be closer to what you may enjoy!
You can also stay at a condo instead of a hotel! I have condos I rent out in Sosua and I know there are MANY in Cabarete!
